Jim Breck Bean

Jim Breck Bean

Owner and Founder of High West Outfitters

I‘m Jim Breck Bean, owner and founder of High West Outfitters. I was born and raised on a ranch in the Trans-Pecos region of far West Texas. I now make my home on the family farm just east of Fort Hancock, Texas where my family and I farm, ranch, and train performance horses. Hunting, Ranching, and Rodeoing is a natural way of life to me, as I’ve been involved in the three since I was a toddler. I hunt over 100 days out of the year, guiding and scouting for 150+ booked clients each season. HWO is an all low fence operation; we hunt Mule Deer, Aoudad, Gemsbok Oryx, a few other exotics, and the coveted Desert Bighorn Sheep. When I‘m not in the mountains chasing game, I’m either working on our family ranch or chasing the rodeo trail!

I take great pride in my hunting ethics, and live for the success of myself and my clients. I have hunted nearly every mountain range in West Texas, and have harvested some giant animals in the past. Assisting hunters reach their hunting dreams has been a passion of mine since I was just a young kid, I started guiding hunters on the family ranch when I was just a very young boy. I took part in my first Desert Sheep hunt at just 11 years old! I love the great outdoors, and have a high respect for the conservancy of our game.

I have a large pack of dry ground Mountain Lion dogs that I spend numerous days a year chasing through the West Texas landscape in search of Lion and Bobcat. I have been guiding for HWO since 2011, and have had my hand in nearly every hunt since I went to work for this great company. I look forward to sharing many more seasons with the clients of HWO, and continuing to chase big game through the heart of the Trans-Pecos Region!

Ky McNett

Ky McNett

Guide/Manager

I’m Ky McNett, Guide for High West Outfitters. Born and raised in the hills of central Texas, I was brought up hunting, fishing and cherishing the environment. I now live in Mertzon, Texas with my wife Karli McNett where in the offseason I help local landowners writing/implementing wildlife management plans, predator control and anything in between. I received my Natural Resource Management Bachelors Degree from Angelo State University December 2011. After college I managed a 250-section ranch and a hunting company just west of San Angelo, Texas. This is where I used my degree to gain experience and learn my true passion for guiding hunters. Aside from guiding and managing native Texas game species, I have a sizable background of numerous exotic game species that have flooded our state in the last couple of decades. Hunting big game peaked my interest at a young age hearing my grandpa tell stories of Alaska, Colorado, New Mexico and everywhere in between. So naturally I began gaining as much experience as I could learning the areas and techniques needed to hunt the big game animals which called the mountains of the west home.
Wildlife Management hunting and guiding isn’t just a hobby for me like it is most, its my life, passion and career in which I take very seriously. Those that know me personally and my past clients will agree with me when I say I love what I do and I love to share my passion with clients. So come out and hunt with us at HWO and let us share a hunt of a lifetime in the mountains of west Texas.

Kolton Moore

Kolton Moore

Guide

Hello, my name is Kolton Moore. I was born in east Texas, and at the age of ten, moved to the weatherford area which is where I currently reside. I grew up hunting whitetail in the hill country of Texas on my family’s ranch. I started my guiding career in 2013 and it has taken me all over Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. I love chasing rutty whitetails in November, but the high desert has it all for me. Aoudad, mule deer and elk are my true passion. In the off season, you can find me in northern Arkansas guiding fly fishing trips on the white and norfork rivers.
